A circular, energy-efficient
value chain for titanium.

EMPowerMet turns titanium swarf and end-of-life components into high-performance industrial parts , without relying on imported primary titanium.

About the project

Rethinking titanium manufacturing, from swarf to finished part

EMPowerMet project (Electric & Mechanical Power for Metal Manufacturing) is a Horizon Europe Innovation Action focused on transforming the way titanium components are manufactured in Europe. The project addresses Europe's dependence on imported primary titanium by creating a fully circular, energy-efficient value chain based on recycled titanium resources, using solid-state recycling technologies including FAST and CONFORM™.

Our process

Five steps, one circular chain

01

Titanium swarf & end-of-life parts

Recycled titanium swarf and end-of-life components are collected as feedstock for the circular process.

02

Solid-state recycling

FAST and CONFORM™ technologies convert the feedstock directly into sheets and wires, without melting.

03

High-performance semi-finished products

Sheets, plates, rods and wires are produced ready for advanced manufacturing.

04

Hybrid manufacturing

Deep drawing, wire-arc directed energy deposition and inductive heat treatment shape the final components.

05

Three industrial demonstrators

The process chain is validated through three real-world demonstrators at TRL7.
